28th of Aug supporting The Average White band

Well…. one of my favorite band : -) I am playing with KIINA from Brighton, an original band with Katarina Holmberg as a leader and founder, she is a good lyricist and writer, myself, Joe Erber and Katarina get together to write material and have the opportunity to record the songs at the Cream Studios Bluey’s recording studio as we are good friends with him. We are supporting THE AWB at the KOMEDIA, Brighton. Last time we supported Incognito at the Concorde II, Brighton, we had an amazing line

Dan Smith (from Noisettes), Franky Young (a young talent originally from Cornwall but based in Brighton), Rachel Golding ( she ‘got her album out by now), Joe Erber, Miggy Barradas, myself and Katarina as lead vocalist. It was a good show!!! Although we’ll have a different line up this time round, we are ready to kick some ass again!!! :-) Come down to see us on the 28th of Aug and obviously enjoy the one and only AWB!!!!!

soul funk secret looking for a keyboard player

Soul Funk Secret are looking for a committed key player, over the past few years the band had very good keyboard players within London area, but all too busy “understandably” as they also have commitment with big names in the music industry.

Many of them are also good backing vocalists, in fact BVs are also important for what we do, we are planning to play in clubs around London again starting from Sept/Oct just to consolidate the new line up. you can watch some of the band performances on youtube, just type Soul Funk Secret :-)

We have played in Cyprus for over 2 months as resident band in Lymasol and used different line ups in time to time, Musicians are all high standard players with a good knowledge of Funk Soul and Jazz. In Saint Lucia Jazz Fest the line up was reduced to 4 as the band was hired to support Carl Gustave (Vocalist solo Artist) so a great deal of Jazz playing was involved ….  Big Thanks to James Lascelles (Keyboards) who put a lot of work into it.

soul funk secret with Jenessa Qua

Soul Funk Secret new addition “Jenessa Qua“.

It only took one gig with Jenessa, no rehearsal, no a word before the show, and it happened to be a success!! The band was booked at the OLD ROSE & CROWN in Walthamstow, London on the Royal Wedding day, and after I exchanged few emails between myself and Belinda (Jenessa’s backing vocalist)  , it was agreed to get the girls on stage with us…  well, here is a short video of that night: the girls are called Good Times as vocal group.

Any comments are welcome :-)

latest video Duren Jazz fest

Shame the audio is terrible, it is distorted :-( but I like the stage actions from Ola   Jazz fest Duren, Germany 2011

Working with Ola Onabule’, sweet Soul-Jazz

Working with Ola Onabule’ and his band has been one of the latest pleasant and wicked experience!! Ola is a great song writer, performer, singer and entertainer. He works the crowd so well :-) its a pleasure and an honor to work with him. Musically very interesting and challenging at the same time, lyrics and melodies fit perfectly wrapped in slow groovy rhythms and jazz flavors. There is also a bit of Latin/caribbean in it, which interest me particularly. The experience to be out there in front of thousands of Soul-jazz lovers with such cool tunes made feel soooo goood!!! Marck Vandergucht and Ugo Dalmirani are one in a million as musicians (soloist) .

Cyprus gigs

What a fantastic place to work!! Soul Funk Secret worked in Cyprus since 2009 and keep going back for more….  The famous 7Seas music venue has been one of the regular place where the band built their reputation . We as a band can say that its our second home, accommodation, food, transports and the good night life in Limasol and Paphos kept the band well happy!! There has been the time where quite few bands from UK performed at the 7Seas, Soul Funk Secret were one of the first regular bands, now we get calls from all over Cyprus and Greece where weddings are out scale!!! Greek weddings are an “experience thou’” the last we had was in Athens and the band will never forget it continue reading »

Lithuania Jazz fest

The jazz festival in Klopeida, Lithuania was absolutely a good and positive experience, massive stage and people were well up to enjoy the live music scene. It was my 1st time in Lithuania and I loved it!! 1st class hotel and beautiful food as well. I play at the jazz festival with Ola Onabule’, Ugo Dalmirani on Keys, Mark Vandergutch on Guitar, Louie Palmer on drums, Duncan and Marc as horns section. We spent 3 says there and really enjoyed our staying!! We had Barta as assistant and she was fabulous.

Soul Funk Secret @St Lucia Jazz Fest

The jazz fest in St Lucia has been of the most amazing experience for me and Soul Funk Secret as a band. We supported Carl Gustave and played in clubs around the Island. The organization was spot on!! We were well looked after by  them and by the locals, just to be there for nearly 10 days gave us the opportunity to grasp the lay back feeling and good vibe around us.

Caribbean  food and weather is just fantastic!!!!! people are just so lay back and easy going…  basically a paradise! I would recommend anyone to visit this piece of paradise on earth.
