Myself, Jules Pais and Jenessa Qua have written a song “You Passed Over” few months ago, we recorded it in December 2011 at the Apollo studio in Caledonian Rd, London By Noko.

What a lovely couple!! It has been one of the best weddings in 2011 where the Soul Funk Secret have given one of their performance!! The whole day was filled with laughter good food ,exquisite people and sweet soul-funk music :-)

Jenessa Qua was on top form on that day, the energy and performance was well high, the location was stunning, the bride Gina and Jamie the Groom were absolutely fantastic they looked after us and been excellent hosts , they have danced throughout the gig and enjoyed the music very much…… what a pleasure playing for couples like them, really nice and genuine people ;-)

New line up -Soul Funk Secret-

….. And finally the new line of Soul Funk Secret is out there better, stronger, and Funkier!!

Jenessa Qua and Shaz Rocketare fronting the band with new originals and covers from Rufus and Chaka, George Duke, Mother’s finest, and more… .You must check the band out NOW, oh boy!!!! Jenessa belts out some serious vocals complimenting the rougher and funkier sound of the magic 4 :-) ;-)

The show is a constant building up with solos and rare grooves in between tracks. Let me tell you!!!! This is a significant changing for Soul Funk Secret ….. no doubts !!

The new demo will be on the web site shortly www.soulfunksecret.com and video coming up soon too.

The next stop is at Newbury at the Lock and Stock in 104 Northbrook Street ,RG14 1AA at 9pm with Shaz on Vocals..

29th Oct Soul Funk Secret in Newbury

Soul Funk Secret, back in Newbury at the Lock stock and Barrels with Shaz Rocket on vocals,the new line up is funkier and rockier, elements of Jazz and hints of Latin are always there… Incredible vibe on stage and off stage :-) The band is working on a single written for Amy Whinehouse and it should be released at the end of December on ITunes. Jenessa Qua, myself and Jules Pais have written the track that will be produced by Noko (Magazine’s guitarist). We can’t wait to put the final mixing out there!!!!!

I have to say .. I really bless to be working with my band, its always a new challenge and inspirations come every time we get together.

The band going out as 6 piece….. OMG!!!!! what a vibe….. Management and promoters have been writing to us to put this amazing line up on the road :-) By January 2012 the show should be ready to kick off!!!

Jenessa and Shaz on vocals….. just a perfect puzzle!! I will keep posted new show and tunes on line soon!!!

Another great fantastic & funkiest night!!!! Soul Funk Secret featured Jenessa Qua … the energy was out of this world!! tunes just were flowing as ever, new tracks from Mother’s finest and Bobby Mc Ferrin and originals. Such a reward for the all band when playing with a line up like this :-)James and Jenessa worked the vocals out beautifully!!

The band was just AMAZING!!! good work all round!! The band is so pleased to have changed the set list and have Jenessa to compliment the rough rock-funk attitude of the Rhythm Section, and…… people :-) :-)…… Jules is getting better and better !!! his solos are amazing as his chunky funky rhythm sounds.

Soul Funk Secret will perform in Camden soon with the same line up!!!!

sharing the stage with peolple speaking the same language

What difference when speaking the same language on stage!!!, for the experienced musos out there I don’t need to explain what I am saying I guess…. for the ones who don’t…… then try to immagine a conversation between 4 people through music where everybody knows the topic (knowledge of styles), and the chairman starts the meeting and asking opinions or for good new ideas and everybody keep focused on each individual ones (impro ideas), there is always someone’s idea more prominent than others (blasting solos).

Well last Saturday it has been an absolute pleasure to have Mark Vandergutch, Miggy and James on stage, it felt like the old guys reunion gagging for a bloody good talk!! people were mesmerised by our conversation (live performance) especially Mark was outstanding!!! It feels good to work with the right crew :-) shame it can’t be all the time due to our busy life and hectic schedules.

I must say that Soul Funk Secret have had loads of well seasoned musos in the last year. The question is : What do you do when the conversation on stage doesn’t go the way you like or wish?? I would love to hear your comment

well well well……… Another great night with Kiina supporting The AWB!! what a night… sound , crowd, venue and the band just FANTASTIC!!!! The response we received from the crowd was amazing, it was a sold out evening that turned out to be a full on Funk, Soul music from both bands. It has been an honor to share the stage with legends like The AWB,videos and pics on the way …. in the meanwhile please put comments if you were there last sunday… we would love to hear what you’ve got to say…..

16th Sept SOUL FUNK SECRET with Jenessa Qua

Well…. another great news from SOUL FUNK SECRET band!!!!!! On the 16th of Sept the band is playing at the Salisbury Pub in Green Lane, close to Turnpike Lane tube Station or Manor House at 9pm-12am. Finally the new set and line up is coming together stronger and better. Well…. one of my favorite band : -) I am playing with KIINA from Brighton, an original band with Katarina Holmberg as a leader and founder, she is a good lyricist and writer, myself, Joe Erber and Katarina get together to write material and have the opportunity to record the songs at the Cream Studios Bluey’s recording studio as we are good friends with him. We are supporting THE AWB at the KOMEDIA, Brighton. Last time we supported Incognito at the Concorde II, Brighton, we had an amazing line

Dan Smith (from Noisettes), Franky Young (a young talent originally from Cornwall but based in Brighton), Rachel Golding ( she ‘got her album out by now), Joe Erber, Miggy Barradas, myself and Katarina as lead vocalist. It was a good show!!! Although we’ll have a different line up this time round, we are ready to kick some ass again!!! :-) Come down to see us on the 28th of Aug and obviously enjoy the one and only AWB!!!!!
